Another Update From Miami
September 23rd, 2009 by michelle
Things are really starting to pick up in the case of the slaughtered horses. Just one week after the first arrest, police have taken another young man into custody on charges of armed burglary and animal cruelty, among other offenses. Santiago Cabrera, 19, was arrested on Monday and confessed to two horse slaughters. The best news in this case is that he is known to have worked with at least three other people. Hopefully with these arrests, police can break this ring up and ensure that horses in South Florida are safe once again.

That will be a good day when that happens.

Yes, this is fantastic news! I hope that they are able to get a great deal of information out of these two men that will enable them to arrest the remaining poachers. A few sites have been following this story, and one of them brought up a good point with this latest arrest: With horse meat bringing up to $40/lb, who can afford to pay that? And if obtaining meat is the primary impetus for the slaughters, why are they being butchered in such a gruesome fashion, with so little of the meat actually being harvested? Something isn’t adding up here, and I hope they are able to sort out what might be behind these cruel killings.

I hope they get them all and they all rot in hell! I don’t have patience for these kind of people. Actually I can’t even say what I really feel about them, so I’ll just leave it at that!!

I know, Paint Girl. It’s really sad that men this young are so screwed up. And what’s even worse is that you know they aren’t going to be rehabilitated in prison. (Maybe they should be sent to the WHIP program to learn about gentling horses!)
