Thankful Thursday – A Chill in the Air

Fall has finally arrived here in Florida. The past couple of weeks has brought a chill to the air and crisp, clear mornings. Most Floridians will tell you that while we love our tropical summers, by September we’re ready to cool off. This year, fall was late in arriving as we sweltered on through October’s muggy, humid days. So our “cold front” that traveled through here about a week ago makes my top Thankful Thursday moment this week. Why? you might ask as much of the country is blanketed in snow and trudging wearily through winter. This is one of my favorite times of year, that’s why. I love the day when I realize I can put down my windows on the way home from work and feel the wind in my hair as I sing along to the radio at the top of my lungs. I love opening the windows on a cold night and burrowing under the covers, curled up with Milo lying against me as we listen to crickets chirping. And finally, I love sitting around a fire on a cold winter night smelling the wood smoke and watching the sparks jump from the flames. Happy December to everyone!
Happy Thursday to all and please visit these other sites that frequently participate in Thankful Thursday:

Wonderful images! I spent 1988 in Tampa – USF required that you take one summer semester to use the buildings. I was hot and relieved when September came for the cooldown. It is really funny about the weather and riding or doing anything outside. We have months that we are stuck inside up here in PA with the heat blasting. You guys are stuck inside in the summer with the air conditioning blasting! We all are stuck inside some times. Welcome back outside!!! Enjoy your real fall now!

I echo what Juliette said – we are all stuck inside sometime! Being back in FL right now, after spending the fall in Vermont, makes me feel like I get to enjoy fall all over again! It has gotten a bit warmer up here, on the first coast, but last week was beautiful!

It has been perfect here, hasn’t it!! Love being able to turn off electric and open up the sliders.

I love This weather, it’s better to ride & run in cold weather.
I am thankful for health, work & friends.
Without them I doubt anyone can survive.
Thank you Michelle,

Sounds like fall has arrived in Florida. I love sitting by the fire and snuggling with my dogs or reading. It’s such a nice time of year to ride too. Everything is just so much better with cooler weather.

I’m thankful for the change of seasons, too. I don’t mind winter. It’s makes me appreciate summer even more.

You’re right, Jenn and Juliette! I realized that not long after moving to Florida, and have adjusted to summers being my “indoor” season. At least for the better part of the day! This is the time of year that I can really enjoy my outdoor activities.

Arlene, one of my favorite things is to open the windows at night when I’m going to bed. I love the sounds of nature right outside my window!
Hazem, it is much better now for outdoor activities! I don’t know how you run/ride in the summer heat, although going early makes a big difference.

Fall has definitely arrived, Arlene! We actually dipped into the 40’s over the past weekend, but jumped right back into the 60’s and 70’s during the day. It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy the warmth of the sun during the day, and then curl up under a blanket in the evenings with a book and a mug of steaming coffee! Mmmmm….heaven!
Lisa, I agree!! I really believe us Floridians NEED our winters, brief and mild as they may be. I know that by September, I’m questioning WHY I even live here! Just 3 days of 50 degree temps and I remember! =)
