Yes, Lisa! My inner amateur psychologist tells me it has something to do with the large proportion of time us horse girls spend in dirt, dust, and mud. The cocktail dresses balance it out, I’m convinced!

I’m sure you’ll look fetching in your new holiday dress, it’s so much fun to get dressed up once in a while. Those purple ponies sound adorable, my granddaughter loves her ‘my pretty ponies’ and has a collection of them she travels everywhere with. This year she’s getting some Breyers too. Glad you rediscovered your love for silk scarves, Simrat! There is nothing quite like going through old armoires – the accessories from those days are so much fun! I used to do the same thing with my grandma, she had some of the most amazing hats and jewelry. =)

Juliette, I think that’s precisely WHY I like to play dress up – it reminds me that there is truly a girl underneath the dust and dirt! One night is good though, then it’s nice to return to my jeans and boots for awhile.

I share your love of cocktail dresses – although I have zero opportunity to wear them. I think I really love the idea of the cocktail party – you know, the New York stereotypical kind in a flat high over Manhattan with Audrey Hepburn type dresses and drinks and little skinny people. Only a dream though, in my mud and ice horsey world! Dreaming is in the air this time of year! Have fun at the office party.

Wonderful! I love that you love cocktail dresses, along with the chocolate and ponies. I’ve rekindled my adiction to silk scarves…. I used to love going through my great aunt’s armoire when I was small. It was filled with fabulous elbow high kid gloves, hats with feathers on them, and yes, silk scarves galore! I would dress up in her flapper era accessories, complete with a long black cigarette holder discretely studded with rhinestones.

Those memories are precious. Thanks for rekindling them and reminding me why I returned to silk scarves…
